My name is Joy Buhle Mndawe, a South African that has an honour of sharing my experiences of living in Kobe, Japan. Kobe as a cosmopolitan city not only portrays rich Japanese cultural practices and norms but exhibits cultural diversification and immersion. I have a deep interest in anthropological studies as an anthropologist. Gaining an in-depth understanding of the disparate ways in which people’s lives are affected by the different aspects within their social existential context is imperative. This is due to the body of knowledge about idiosyncratic ways of being that you can come to cognize.
